Data Restore

Ensure quick and secure data retrieval from your cloud account to your Linux devices via IDrive Express for Linux. To ensure data security during transit, the most recent version of your files are encrypted and sent to you in a temporary storage device. You can easily restore your files in original format using the IDrive for Linux package.

To perform an express restore of your files and folders:

  1. Connect the storage device provided by IDrive to your Linux machine.
Note: Ensure the storage device is properly mounted on your Linux machine.
  2. Open Terminal and run the following command:
    idrive
  3. Set up the Express restore location:
    1. Select 'Restore Settings’ from the main menu and choose 'Data will be restored from’.
    2. From the list, select the appropriate restore mount point from which you want to restore from.
    3. Choose the device name from which you want to restore.
  4. Edit the Restore set:
    1. Return to the main menu and select 'Edit local restore set’.
    2. Enter the path of the files/folders you want to restore, with each item on a new line, and save the changes.
  5. Start the Express restore:
    1. Go back to the main menu and select 'Start local restore' to begin the process.

Once the express restore completes, a summary of the operation will be displayed on-screen. For more detailed information, you can view the complete log by running idrive and selecting 'View logs' from the main menu.

After the data transfer is complete, eject the device from your Linux machine and ship it back to us.
